The Result
Supporters might argue that the downing of the Saudi fighter jet is a significant victory for the Houthi forces, showcasing their military capabilities. The defense submits that this event highlights the ongoing struggle for power in Yemen, where the Houthis have demonstrated resilience against a formidable opponent.
What Trump Did
The defense might suggest that while Trump’s policies have been criticized, they inadvertently allowed for a more complex geopolitical landscape where local forces like the Houthis can assert themselves.
Why Supporters Credit Him
Supporters might argue that Trump's focus on America First has shifted attention away from foreign entanglements, allowing regional actors to take charge of their destinies.
The Supporting Record
The defense admits that the wreckage of the F-15, as verified by BBC, serves as a symbol of the Houthis' determination and capability.
The Limitation or Competing Explanation
However, the defense might argue that this incident is part of a larger conflict that predates Trump's presidency, and attributing it solely to his policies oversimplifies the situation.
Verdict
If this is Trump's fault, his supporters will gladly let him take the blame.
